ADAPS Alberni Valley Youth and Family Services is a non-profit, charitable society.
ADAPS is a community prevention service that addresses social, health and environmental factors and their effect on Youth and Family wellness. ADAPS supports the development of healthy individuals and families through education, intervention and treatment programs.
Alberni Clayoquot Health Network (ACHN)
The purpose of the ACHN is to network like-minded organizations, agencies, and networks that are working to improve community health. We aim to “network the networks” to better support the work you are already doing. We aim to provide supports and capacity to systems enabling us work more effectively as a region, where no centralized leadership exists we have committed to take a convening role to move forward planning and implementation activities. Using a collective impact framework to identify our role for the work in which we engage, we are continuously scanning for opportunities to support, convene and increase capacity to impactful initiatives in our region.
BC Association of Community Response Networks
The British Columbia Association of Community Response Networks (BC-CRN) is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to preventing the mistreatment of vulnerable adults, including older adults, through community awareness, collaboration, and action.
BC Environmental Emergency
Environmental emergencies include hazardous or toxic spills, discharges, emissions, as well as dyke and dam failures, debris flows and floods.
The telephone number connects with the Emergency Coordination Centre (part of Emergency Management BC (EMBC)); the dispatcher will notify the appropriate Environmental Emergency Response Officer.
Child And Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Intake Clinics - Port Alberni
Service provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Walk-in intake clinics for children, youth and their families where they can receive a same-day initial assessment by a trained professional in a confidential environment.
The program is offered to children and youth aged 0-18 years of age at no cost. It is designed to support children and youth experiencing significant difficulties related to their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Services include:
- intake and referral
- consultations
- mental health assessment
- individual treatment
- group treatment
- parenting and child interventions
Concerns most commonly addressed at these centres include anxiety, depression, severe behaviour problems, psychosis and complex mental health concerns.
Mental Health teams may include nurses, counsellors, occupational therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, and support staff. Each team is unique, with the mix of staff and services reflecting the needs of each community and population.
Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT)
The Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT) was established in 2000 to assist the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region communities achieve their visions by providing funding and logistical support for research, education and training initiatives that promote conservation and sustainable development. The CBT is also a member of the Community Foundations of Canada. As the region’s community foundation, the CBT works with individuals and organizations to build a region where all residents can succeed, contribute and develop their talents to their fullest potential.
Community Dental Hygienist (Island Health)
Taryn Coates is a public health dental hygienist with Island Health. She is passionate about helping children build strong foundations for lifelong oral health. in her work, she provides families with information, tools, and resources to prevent early childhood dental disease.
Community Health Speech Language Program (Island Health)
The Community Health Speech-Language Program provides services for children from birth to 5 years of age who have or who are at risk of communication delays. It is a single-discipline program with services provided by speech-language pathologists. Depending on the region, services may also be provided in conjunction with communication health assistants.
Community Living BC (WCRS)
The program offers one-on-one support to individuals with support needs, helping them build independence and connect with their community. Participants receive assistance in developing daily living skills, such as taking the bus, cooking meals, doing laundry, and staying safe.
Support is also provided to access community resources like banks, grocery stores, and local services. Additionally, individuals are encouraged to make friends, improve communication, and practice social skills through group activities.
Community Youth Worker (WCRS)
The Community Youth Worker takes a family-centered approach to supporting youth and families, recognizing the important role of the family in promoting the well-being and development. This approach focuses on strengthening the overall support system to help families navigate challenges and create a positive environment for growth.
Discovery Youth and Family Substance Use Services (Island Health)
Provides counselling for youth who are experiencing difficulties related to their own or another person's alcohol or other drug use, as well as support for parents of adolescents regarding substance use concerns. West Coast Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) provides intake for the Discovery Program.

Foundry Port Alberni
Foundry is a province-wide network of integrated health and wellness services for young people ages 12–24 and their families. We bring together multiple services in one place — in person at Foundry centres and virtually through the Foundry BC app — to make it easier for youth to access care, connection and support.
Income Assistance (Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction)
The Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction focuses on providing British Columbians in need with a system of supports to help them achieve their social and economic potential. If you are in need and have no other resources, you may be eligible for income assistance. This can help support your transition to employment.
Long Beach Primary Care Network
A Primary Care Network (PCN) is a community-based network of health care professionals and clinics who plan and deliver the health care needs of a community.
The Long Beach Primary Care team is working with local clinics to help connect people to a primary care provider, either a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

NTC Community Health Nurses (Esowista)
NTC Community Health Nurses can support you and your family with the prevention of diseases that are spreadable. These diseases are called Communicable Diseases and include things like tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. As your nursing team, we can help you understand how to prevent these diseases and how or where to get treatment for the diseases.
The Community Health Nurse (CHN) provides support during pregnancy and birth to establish positive and healthy birth outcomes using the Mother’s Story approach to care. The CHN identifies the physical and emotional needs of parents and babies in the first weeks of life and beyond and fosters bonding and attachment of mothers and babies. The CHN provides assessments at various stages of life, education and referrals as needed.
NTC Community Health Services (Esowista)
The Community Health Service Program in Nuu-chah-nulth communities emphasizes a holistic, culturally grounded approach to care, focusing on health promotion, clinical support, advocacy, and cultural safety. Nurses empower individuals through immunizations, collaborative communicable disease prevention, surveillance and management, prenatal/postnatal care, sexual and reproductive health, chronic disease screening, prevention and management, and health education and promotion workshops that incorporate traditional knowledge - such as medicinal plants and seasonal foods—while partnering with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
NTC Early Years Outreach Program
Child and Youth Services offers programs for Nuu-chah-nulth children, youth, and their families that help strengthen abilities and expand community and family supports. Nuu-chah-nulth Early Years Outreach Programs (EYOP) promote and support healthy development during pregnancy, infancy and childhood. Services are offered through home and community visits.
NTC Family & Child Services (usma)
Usma works with families, Nuu-chah-nulth Nations, community partners and caregivers to support and ensure the health and safety of Nuu-chah-nulth children and youth. Pacificare
Originally named The Pacific Child and Family Enrichment Society, PacificCARE Family Enrichment Society was founded in 1989 by child care professionals who had collaborated for 15 years. This nonprofit organization operates primarily through the Child Care Resource and Referral Program (CCRR), funded by The Ministry of Education and Child Care, aimed at improving child care accessibility and quality in Central and Northern Vancouver Island.
PEACE Counselling (WCRS)
The PEACE Program is a support and prevention program that offers individual and group counselling to children (ages 3 to 18) who have witnessed or experienced violence or abuse. The program provides counselling to help children heal and build resilience.
Counselling is also available to parents, guardians, and family members who have not been involved in the abuse, giving them support as they navigate the challenges of helping their child.
Port Alberni Association For Community Living - Infant Development Program
Services include developmental assessments, parent support, Parent & Tot play group, infant massage, toy and book lending library and assistance for transition to pre-school or daycare. IDP Consultants work to optimize a child’s development. They work in partnership with other professionals in the community including Doctors, Public Health Nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and behavioural consultants.
Port Alberni Community Health Services (Island Health)
This location is a wound care clinic for Community Health Services clients. This is not a walk-in service.
To attend, you must have be a client of Community Health Services and have a referral.
As well as an in-person clinic, Port Alberni Community Health Services provides a range of services in the community including home support, home care nursing, rehabilitation, and case management.

Raincoast Education Society
We deliver a broad range of high-quality educational and interpretive programs, such as interpretive walks, seminar series, school programs, and slideshows focused on the natural environment, cultures, and communities of the Clayoquot and Barkley Sound region. We also bring outside educators and experts to our region for programs and presentations.
Representative for Children and Youth BC
The Representative for Children and Youth supports children, youth and families who need help in dealing with the child-serving system, provides oversight to the Ministry of Children and Family Development and advocates for improvements to the child-serving system.
Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue
Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization that operates more than 30 marine rescue stations along the coast of British Columbia from Vancouver’s busy harbour to the remote waters of the North Coast. RCMSAR is a key part of the marine search and rescue (SAR) system, working in one of the most challenging search and rescue regions in the world.
Rural and Remote Division of Family Practice (Long Beach)
Founded in early September 2014, the Long Beach chapter included approximately 7,600 residents of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region live between five nuučaan̓uł (Nuu-chah-nulth) First Nations communities hiškʷiiʔatḥ (Hesquiaht First Nation), ʕaaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ (Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations) Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ (Ucluelet First Nation), and tukʷaaʔatḥ (Toquaht Nation) and two municipalities (Tofino and Ucluelet). The local doctors, who work out of clinics in Tofino, Ucluelet, Ahousaht, Ty-histanis, Hitacu and Macoah while also serving the Emergency Room at Tofino General Hospital, have all become members. Long Beach Chapter is actively working along side the Nuu-Chah-Nulth led Primary Care initiative and in the early stages of launching a Primary Care Network, which will bring some crucial primary care positions to the region. The chapter is particularly looking forward to collaborative partnerships with other health agencies as we develop a truly integrated primary care model.
Sexual Assault Services (WCRS)
The Sexual Assault Services (SAS) supports survivors of sexual assault (all genders, ages 13+) to navigate their options and begin to heal. We offer:
- Someone who will listen without judgement
- Advocacy and information about medical and justice options, as requested
- Third Party Reporting (TPR) – anonymous reporting to the RCMP
- Accompaniment at the hospital, RCMP detachment, and court
- Planning for safety and healing
- Follow-up care
- Referrals as needed
- Community education and collaboration
TFN Community Human Services (CHS)
CHS is the body of member direct services that collectively plan, intake, and organize client/member services in our communities. Most commonly this would relate to Health, Social Services, Family Care, Social Development, and Health related case files in our community. The CHS team is comprised of our 5 service providers (Health Liaison, A&D Counsellor, Social Development Clerk, Family Care Worker, and the CHS Manager).
TFN Health Department
Tla-o-qui-aht Health Department consists of outreach to health services for TFN Members. This also includes access to our Medical Travel Assistance for TFN Patients. Other resources might be health related workshops, events, and information. Contact our health department employees for more information, or updates.
TFN Tlucha Children's Centre / Headstart Preschool Program
Our Program offers a variety of Child Care, Preschool and Outreach programs for children 0-12 years of age. The Tlucha Children's Centre is licensed through Communities Care and Assisted Living Act to offer full-time, licensed childcare that includes 12 spaces for Infant and Toddlers (3 months to 36 months),16 spaces for preschool age children (30 months to Kindergarten age) and 10 spaces for school aged children (6-12 years for care after school and on school breaks.
We also offer a licensed 2 hour a day, preschool program for 3-year old's in the morning and 4- year old's in the afternoon, as well as a variety of outreach services and family programming.
Tofino General Hospital (Island Health)
The hospital Emergency Department is open 24/7 for life-threatening or serious health concerns. Patients are seen based on the urgency of their condition, not the order they arrive. You can also come directly to the Emergency Department. When you arrive, a nurse will check how urgent your condition is. The most serious cases are treated first.
- Signs of a stroke (numbness, confusion, trouble speaking)
- Chest pain or signs of a heart attack
- Major injury or trauma
- Mental health crisis
- Head injury with loss of consciousness
- Pregnancy complications
- Feeling unwell and on dialysis
- Overdose or poisoning
- Sexual assault or rape
Wait times can vary. If your condition is not an emergency, you may be encouraged to visit a same-day or urgent care clinic.
Tofino Volunteer Fire Department
Established in 1959, the Tofino Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD) provides fire protection and emergency services to the community of Tofino, as well as motor vehicle rescue along Highway 4. The TVFD maintains a mutual aid agreement for structure fires with the Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Brigade. The TVFD also provides fire protection to the Tla-o-qui-aht communities at Tin Wis, Esowista, and Ty-Histanis.

Vancouver Island Crisis Line
The 24-hour Vancouver Island Crisis Line is a service contracted by Provincial Health Services Authority. The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is committed to providing accessible voice, text and chat crisis intervention and suicide prevention services, including postvention programs. We endeavour to provide emotional support during times of crisis, information about community resources, education intended to promote community wellness, and reduce the incidence of suicide. We value the principles of confidentiality, non-judgmental acceptance, and respect for diversity, personal empowerment, and cooperation.
Victim Link BC
VictimLinkBC staff can connect you to a network of community, social, health, justice and government resources, including victim services, transition houses and counselling resources. They also provide information on the justice system, relevant federal and provincial legislation and programs, crime prevention, safety planning, protection order registry and other resources as needed.
West Coast Postpartum Support
West Coast Postpartum Support offers a wide range of services to assist families, tailored to living in our remote West Coast communities. Doula Home Visits provide additional care after birthing out of town, and grant funding is available for Indigenous families. The Parent & Baby Groups offer connection, education and emotional support for parents.
West Coast Transit Service
This BC Transit service is operated by PWTransit Canada and connects residents and visitors of Tofino, Ucluelet, Long Beach, the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ community of hitaću, and the Tla-o-qui-aht communities of Esowista and Ty-histanis.
BC Transit and the ACRD worked closely with members of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government and Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation to identify service levels and bus stop locations. We are also pleased to include Nuu-chah-nulth on our bus stop signs in the West Coast Transit System, a first for BC Transit.
Westcoast Transition House (WCRS)
Westcoast Transition House is a temporary emergency shelter run by women, for women and their children who are fleeing violence and abuse.
