It is a BC Independent school following BC prescribed curriculum with a focus on First Nations and in particular, Nuuchahnulth culture as it relates to the Ahousaht people.
Maaqtusiis Secondary School
The students, and many of our staff, are community members, and are deeply rooted in their ancient and resilient Ahousaht culture. Our students must walk in two worlds. The students of MSS are the future of their community, and their success is the community’s success. Not only does Ahousaht benefit, but Canadian society will benefit greatly when our students not only graduate with a Dogwood Diploma, but also leave school and enter the world as proud, culturally connected, and Nuu-chah-nulth speaking citizens and community members.
