Alberni Clayoquot Health Network (ACHN)

The purpose of the ACHN is to network like-minded organizations, agencies, and networks that are working to improve community health. We aim to “network the networks” to better support the work you are already doing. We aim to provide supports and capacity to systems enabling us work more effectively as a region, where no centralized leadership exists we have committed to take a convening role to move forward planning and implementation activities. Using a collective impact framework to identify our role for the work in which we engage, we are continuously scanning for opportunities to support, convene and increase capacity to impactful initiatives in our region.

Alberni Valley Employment Centre (Tofino)

Alberni Valley Employment Centre is owned and operated by Island Work Transitions Inc. (IWT), and has been delivering employment services funded by the Government of Canada and Province of British Columbia since 2007. IWT operates a full-time office in Port Alberni and two part-time offices in Ucluelet and Tofino, providing free assistance and support to job-seekers in the Alberni-Clayoquot region of Vancouver Island, BC. Services to other communities in the region (such as Bamfield and Ahousaht) are provided through a combination of virtual and outreach delivery modes. Everyone is welcome to use AVEC's Resource Centres, which are fully staffed and equipped to provide access to self serve resources, including current employment opportunities, labour market information, and the use of computers, fax machines, photocopiers and telephones for job search and related activities. Employment Counsellors are available to help unemployed clients make career decisions, conduct a successful job search, or apply to participate in government funded services, based on eligibility. These services include group workshops, training supports, skills assessments, wage subsidy, self-employment services, and customized job placement. Employers too, are welcome to take advantage of available employer resources to help you find and keep the workforce you need.

PEACE Counselling (WCRS)

The PEACE Program is a support and prevention program that offers individual and group counselling to children (ages 3 to 18) who have witnessed or experienced violence or abuse. The program provides counselling to help children heal and build resilience. Counselling is also available to parents, guardians, and family members who have not been involved in the abuse, giving them support as they navigate the challenges of helping their child.

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization that operates more than 30 marine rescue stations along the coast of British Columbia from Vancouver’s busy harbour to the remote waters of the North Coast. RCMSAR is a key part of the marine search and rescue (SAR) system, working in one of the most challenging search and rescue regions in the world.

Rural and Remote Division of Family Practice (Long Beach)

Founded in early September 2014, the Long Beach chapter included approximately 7,600 residents of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region live between five nuučaan̓uł (Nuu-chah-nulth) First Nations communities hiškʷiiʔatḥ (Hesquiaht First Nation), ʕaaḥuusʔatḥ (Ahousaht) ƛaʔuukʷiʔatḥ (Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations) Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ (Ucluelet First Nation), and tukʷaaʔatḥ (Toquaht Nation) and two municipalities (Tofino and Ucluelet). The local doctors, who work out of clinics in Tofino, Ucluelet, Ahousaht, Ty-histanis, Hitacu and Macoah while also serving the Emergency Room at Tofino General Hospital, have all become members. Long Beach Chapter is actively working along side the Nuu-Chah-Nulth led Primary Care initiative and in the early stages of launching a Primary Care Network, which will bring some crucial primary care positions to the region. The chapter is particularly looking forward to collaborative partnerships with other health agencies as we develop a truly integrated primary care model.

Sexual Assault Services (WCRS)

The Sexual Assault Services (SAS) supports survivors of sexual assault (all genders, ages 13+) to navigate their options and begin to heal. We offer: - Someone who will listen without judgement - Advocacy and information about medical and justice options, as requested - Third Party Reporting (TPR) – anonymous reporting to the RCMP - Accompaniment at the hospital, RCMP detachment, and court - Planning for safety and healing - Follow-up care - Referrals as needed - Community education and collaboration

Combining orthopedic assessment with motor point acupuncture and deep tissue massage techniques, Matt takes a hands-on approach to healing, drawing on the holistic perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Matt had the pleasure of teaching a Sports and Trauma course in Victoria BC, at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Over the past decade his practice has grown to include fertility and woman’s health as well as into the treatment of children using a needless Japanese style called shonishin.

TFN Community Human Services (CHS)

CHS is the body of member direct services that collectively plan, intake, and organize client/member services in our communities. Most commonly this would relate to Health, Social Services, Family Care, Social Development, and Health related case files in our community. The CHS team is comprised of our 5 service providers (Health Liaison, A&D Counsellor, Social Development Clerk, Family Care Worker, and the CHS Manager).
